Mahlum names principal, 2 associates


Mahlum recently named Erik Goodfriend principal of the firm, and Anjali Grant and Corrie Rosen as associates.


Goodfriend has spent the past 12 years focusing on health care architecture at Mahlum. He leads the health care practice group in both the Seattle and Portland offices.


Grant, an employee of the firm for the past three years, specializes in sustainable design strategies for educational facilities.


Rosen has nine years of architectural experience, including the past three with Mahlum. She is the leader of the firm's community service group.


Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal names manager


Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal recently named Caleb Ewing as its new project manager in Tualatin. He has approximately 12 years of experience, and will provide sales support and project management regarding commercial clients and services. Ewing previously was a field service representative at Carlisle SynTec Inc.


Bradshaw joins Ball Janik


James Bradshaw recently joined the Portland office of Ball Janik LLP as special counsel in the government contracts practice group. He focuses his practice on government contracts and business transactions, both domestic and international. Bradshaw previously was assistant general counsel for the government systems division of FLIR Systems Inc., an Oregon company that designs, manufactures and markets advanced thermal imaging and threat detection systems for government, commercial and industrial applications.


Glumac hires several staff members


Glumac recently hired several staff members for its Portland office.


Brien Bliatout is an electrical designer with six years of ex- perience. He previously worked in the petrochemical industry and in commercial design.


Sallie Martinson is an office manager with more than 20 years experience in the Portland architecture and engineering industries.


Naji Saad, a senior mechanical designer, has a design background related to medical and commercial work. He was formerly with HDR Engineering.


Norbert Reman joined the energy services team as an analyst after recently developing a new steel mill in Mississippi. His work in the steel industry includes design, procurement and commissioning of systems upon start-up.


Jesse Smith, a senior lighting designer, has experience ranging from shopping malls in Dubai to libraries in Idaho and medical facilities in Oregon. He previously worked in architectural lighting design at Interface Engineering.


Construction Marketing Team adds Uchtman


Construction Marketing Team recently added industry veteran Amy Uchtman as a senior account manager. She will spearhead CMT's expansion by servicing the marketing needs of the regional construction industry in the Pacific Northwest. She will represent the firm's full line of marketing, advertising, web design, social media and traditional marketing services.


Urban Works promotes Renz


Urban Works Real Estate recently promoted Alison Renz to associate retail broker and hired Megan Vassar as operations manager. Renz has more than five years experience in real estate; she has managed many company projects and marketing assignments for the company. Vassar has eight years experience as a communications and operations specialist for a local, private health-care corporation.


Norris, Beggs & Simpson to transition


Norris, Beggs & Simpson Cos. is preparing for a leadership transition.


Jan Robertson will serve as CEO, while J. Clayton Hering will be chairman of the board. Two of the company's divisions are gaining new presidents: Chris Johnson will serve as president of NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson, and Ken Griggs will be president of NBS Financial Services.


Also, H. Roger Qualman will be chief operating officer of NAI NBS, and oversee the brokerage and property management divisions. Jeff Borlaug, principal and managing director of brokerage, who became a partner earlier this year, will increase his management responsibility in Portland brokerage operations.
